What the app does

Keep the English test language in view while the ideas become clear.

Chapter notes and reference

Structured chapter notes, reference tables and a searchable glossary, with key English terms kept visible.

Study in your language

Eight study languages help you understand the underlying ideas while you learn the English wording used in the test.

Audio study

Listen to the material as well as reading it, and move between reading, audio and practice without losing your place.

Original practice

Practice questions written by JS Insights, each with an explanation. They are not live test questions.

Timed practice and review

Timed practice, favourites, progress and mistake review help you return to what you have not yet mastered.

Study on your devices

Available on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows and Android, with offline access after installation. Check each store for device requirements.

On Windows

Study on a Windows PC or Surface.

The Windows edition has the full course, all 640 questions, mock tests and free English narration, with no ads. Write notes by hand with a Surface Pen or your finger, and use the tablet layout when the keyboard is detached. Notes and progress are saved on your PC.

Life in the UK Test: JS Prep on Windows: the Romans chapter with narration controls and the notes panel — A narrated chapter with notes on Windows.

Free to download

The complete course is free.

All 88 course sections, 640 original practice questions and their explanations, study tools and English narration are free. Optional one-time purchases add recorded-language audio or remove ads; there is no subscription.

Audio packs: Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Spanish, Polish and Romanian recordings are sold separately. Each pack is currently £2.99 in the UK and can be downloaded for offline listening after purchase. Without a pack, your device voice can read the selected language.
Remove Ads: currently £2.99 in the UK. On iPhone and iPad, banners appear at natural breaks, not while answering questions or taking a mock test. The Mac and Windows apps have no ads. Buying an audio pack does not remove ads.

On iPhone, iPad and Mac, purchases can be restored with the same Apple Account, and notes and study progress can sync through your private iCloud; you can choose which areas sync in the app. On Windows, purchases belong to your Microsoft account and your notes stay on your PC. On Android, purchases are made and restored through Google Play. Purchases do not transfer between stores, and each store shows the final price in your local currency.

iPhone and iPad

From the App Store

There is no Website Edition for iPhone and iPad.

Installing

Mac: if your browser has not already unzipped the download, double-click the .zip file. Drag Life UK Prep Website Edition into Applications and open it from there.
Windows: choose x64 for Intel or AMD PCs, or ARM64 for Windows 11 on Arm. Extract the whole ZIP to a folder, then open LifeUKPrepWebsite.exe in that folder. The app runs from that folder, so keep its other files beside it.
Android: open the downloaded .apk file. If asked, allow your browser or Files app to install unknown apps, then tap Install. The app appears as Life UK Prep Website. In some countries, Google’s developer verification rules for apps installed outside Google Play may stop the installation; if that happens, use the Google Play edition.
iPhone and iPad: use the App Store edition.

Updating

Mac: download the new version from this page and replace the app in Applications with it.
Windows: download and extract the new ZIP, open the app from the new folder, then delete the old folder.
Android: download the new .apk from this page and install it over the previous Website Edition.

An update keeps your notes and progress: on Mac and Windows they are stored apart from the app itself, and on Android installing over the previous version keeps them.

Adverts

The Website Edition is free because it carries adverts. On Android, Google AdMob banners appear at natural breaks, never on question, mock test or reading screens. Where your consent is required (for example in the UK, the EEA and Switzerland), no advert is requested until you have made your privacy choice; elsewhere adverts can appear straight away.

The App Store Mac app and the Microsoft Store Windows app have no ads. The Mac and Windows Website Editions instead show a clearly labelled space that promotes other JS Insights apps and courses; it uses no advertising network and does not track you.

Your data and other editions

Notes and progress stay on your device, separate from the store editions.

On Windows, Settings › Your data › Back up to a file and Restore from a file save and restore your notes and progress. On Mac you can share your notes as text from the Notes page. The Android Website Edition has no notes export.

No account, cloud sync or in-app purchases. Store purchases do not unlock this edition.
